Nic McMahon, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager
Nic has spent the last 20 years helping organizations expand and grow globally through localization, learning and global resourcing initiatives. As VP of Global Solutions at SDL, Nic was part of a management team that scaled the company in 7 years from $15m to over $170m; as GM of Jonckers US Nic founded US Sales and Operations doubling global revenues to $30m in three years. Prior to joining VIA, Nic helped develop and launch the industry’s largest Crowdsourcing and Cloud TM solution as VP of Global Technology Solutions for Lionbridge, significantly reducing production overhead and increasing scale.
Since joining VIA, Nic has focused on building our global scale, opening offices in Europe and Panama as well as driving overall operational efficiency through enterprise level workflow optimization across the entire global organization including the US, China and India. He holds an honors degree from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) in Business and Philosophy.
Scott Herber, Executive Vice President and General Manager
Scott has more than 20 years of progressively-responsible sales and executive management experience in software, service and technology, focusing on enterprise, legal and high technology verticals. He has subject matter expertise in cross border legal, compliance, contract and foreign language matters and has written several articles for numerous on-line and print media including Bloomberg Law, Corporate Counsel and Inside Counsel Magazines.
Before joining VIA, Scott was Regional Vice President of Sales for Kronos’ Talent Management division, where he led his teams to record increases in sales. His previously held positions also include Vice President of Sales, Director of Business Development, Field Marketing, Sales Training, and Human Resource Management with companies such as Eastman Kodak, Sequent Computers and IBM. He has lived and worked in Germany, France, the UK, and much of Asia.
Scott holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Marketing and in Management from the University of Portland. He has also completed Marketing Strategies for High Technology Companies at Stanford University, as well as the I.L.E.E Spanish course for foreigners in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Scott has a conversational command of German.
Mark Irwin, Chief Financial Officer
Mark brings more than 30 years of experience in finance and accounting in a variety of industries including public accounting, insurance, telemarking and software. He has contributed to the success of fast growing start-ups and established companies, and brings a depth of knowledge gained from both privately-held and publicly-traded technology-based organizations. He has worked at the corporate and divisional levels in roles including Controller, Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He is a graduate of University of Oregon where he obtained a B.S. in Accounting.
Darren Megarry, Vice President, Strategic Accounts
Darren has more than 20 years of sales and management experience in localization, software and electronics markets, including five years of experience in channel sales. Darren has guided and managed all of VIA’s business lines including his current role with Strategic Corporate Accounts, over his 12 year tenure. For the last six years he has focused primarily on the legal, compliance and litigation markets.
Before joining VIA, he managed channel sales for PowerQuest Corp. in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa, selling Storage Resource Management software, image-based enterprise-wide desktop roll-out solutions, and consumer-based partitioning, imaging, and back-up software. Darren was responsible for distribution accounts in the UK and Ireland and later managed internal direct sales at MuRata Electronics (UK), selling passive electronic components to national and multinational companies including Nokia, APC and Panasonic.
A native of Winchester, England, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Southampton University.
Evelyn Toro, VP Global Operations
Evelyn has over 17 years of localization experience in increasingly responsible roles within several companies. Prior to VIA, Evelyn was Operations Manager, USA at Jonckers Translation & Engineering, helping to establish the US Portland office, while overseeing production and customer satisfaction. Evelyn was instrumental in growing the Jonckers’ US office by promoting a culture of leadership, teamwork, problem solving, creativity, and commitment.
As an Account Manager for SDL International, Evelyn gained extensive knowledge in localization technologies with a focus on strategic solutions and helping customers implement best practices. Evelyn offers a unique blend of operational acumen and deep knowledge of customer service. Additionally, she co-founded and co-directed an English as a second language school in Talcahuano, Chile.
Evelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, in Spanish from the University of Louisville.
